She moved to a city seeking more job opportunities, but since she didn’t have much professional experience, she was often turned away. But Urmila didn’t give up. CARE Awarded USAID Program to Strengthen Health in Nepal
CARE is leading partners Jhpiego, Howard Delafield International, Association of Youth Organizations Nepal (AYON), and Nepal Contraceptive Retail Sales Company to implement the USAID Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH) Activity. This partnership will enable meaningful youth engagement and private sector engagement. CARE Partnership rooted in girl-led movements
EMPower – the Emerging Markets Foundation and CARE’s Tipping Point Initiative came together first to learn from EMpower’s experience developing the Adolescent Girls’ Learning Community model in India to understand the ways in which girls themselves were taking on these norms. The partnership grew to adapt the model in Nepal and Bangladesh during Tipping Point’s second phase, becoming a central strategy for challenging social expectations and repressive norms, and promoting movements and activism that are led by girls.
