Even more Syrious: capacity strengthening and advocacy in the age of state violence and indifference

The proposed project will target the restrictive shift in policies, practices, and discourse towards migrants/refugees on a national and international level, as well as the flaws, shortcomings, and reluctances in the Croatian international protection and integration system. In addressing these issues, the project has three main objectives: 1) Endorsing civic mobilization for the changes of relevant policies and practices with regards to human rights of refugees, through monitoring and research, public informing, and advocacy combined with direct support at the national and international level. 2) Providing a model of a comprehensive support to social integration in Croatia, based on the citizens' engagement, including support to realization of refugees/migrants rights, senzitivization, and providing opportunities for meaningful interactions within the community. 3) Strengthen the structural capacities of AYS in terms of professionalization that will enable meaningful, efficient, innovative and participatory work for safeguarding the rights and well-being of refugees/migrants. These objectives will be reached through severeal types of activities, as a methodological approach: • Capacity building of the volunteers in the form of partial professionalization, networking and education • Monitoring and research • Awareness raising and advocacy • Public informing and alternative journalism • Strategic court litigation • Integration support (education, employment, meaningful interaction opportunities)
