The project addresses the immediate needs occasioned by the persistent drought in the target districts, and lays the groundwork for more long-term gains in nutrition, WASH, and FSL. Through close coordination with health authorities, ACF will work toward a partnership so that nutrition programming can be smoothly integrated into the health system, with technical backstopping from ACF to build government capacity. Moreover, the WASH and FSL components offer additional depth to the project activities, in recognition of the need to address proximal causes of undernutrition as well as to provide treatment to children with SAM. By introducing WASH and FSL approaches that are context-specific and appropriate for drought-prone areas, these elements of the project contribute to community resilience.
