Cuban Humanitarian Support Network (CHSN)

CHSN is an ART project dedicated to provide humanitarian aid to Cuba's vulnerable religious leaders. The project's objective is also to create a humanitarian network for the sustainable delivery of essential food and health supplies to marginalized Cubans and their family members. The project has three results: 1) off-shore humanitarian organizations are mobilized and organized for humanitarian donations, 2) local procurement mechanisms are established for sustainable provision of food assistance, and 3) faith-based organizations (FBOs) are strengthened to administer humanitarian assistance service delivery. Special priority will be given to other marginalization factors such as age, LGBTI status, disabilities and ethnic or racial discrimination.

Activities

ART will implement two separate but integrated distribution methods for best nutrition and health effects: 1) shipping and distribution of vitamin-rich, pre-packaged meals and basic health supplies which, for the most part, are provided in-kind by NGO partners in the U.S., and 2) distribution of locally-procured food baskets consisting of vegetables, fruits, grains and beans, and basic health supplies (medicines and medical/hygiene supplies).
