Peru Flood Recovery

Flooding has been plaguing Peru since December causing massive destruction. We have officially launched a response program to focus on cleaning out affected schools, constructing temporary learning centers, mobilizing local volunteers, and mucking out homes. Thousands of children have been displaced by the mud and water in their schools, causing them to learn in substandard conditions until help arrives. Our volunteers will be constructing a new school building in the town of Puerta Pulache that will minimize the risk of future natural disasters, such as flooding and earthquakes.

This project will fund one permanent school building consisting of 5 classrooms and a water, sanitation and hygiene station consisting of 6 toilets. Additional activities related to community improvement will be performed throughout the program duration.
