Capacity building for Disabled People's Organizations
The primary objective of this project is to encourage people with disabilities to be more involved in society by building the intervention and mobilization capacity of the associations that represent them.
Handicap International is doing the following: • Building the technical and operational capacity of associations that work to support people with disabilities. • Bolstering contact between the various disability stakeholders by structuring their networks in the regions. • Supporting the national collective that works to advance the rights of people with disabilities.
This Project is implemented in partnership with the following local bodies: Collectif pour la promotion des droits des personnes en situation de handicap (Collective for the advancement of the rights of people with disabilities); Réseau des associations oeuvrant dans le domaine du handicap au Nord du Maroc (Network of organisations working in the field of disability in Northern Morocco); Union Régionale des Association de Personnes en situation de handicap de la Région de Guelmim-Smara (Regional union of disabled people’s organizations in the region of Guelmim-Smara); Réseau des droits des personnes en situation de handicap Sud-Est (Network to promote the rights of people with disabilities in the South East of Morocco); Ministère du Développement Social, de la Famille et de la Solidarité (Ministry for Social Development, the Family and Solidarity); Association Horizon des handicapées à Ouarzazate (Association of people with disabilities in Ouarzazate) assisted for at least the first three years of the project, from 2010 to 2012; Association des paralysés du Sud du Maroc (Southern Morocco Paralysis Organization) in Safi; Association Enfance handicapée (Disabled children’s organization) in Agadir, supported since 2010.
