Inclusive education (APPEHL: Promoting the full participation of children with disabilities through education)
The goal of the project is to integrate children with disabilities into the existing educational system within the Benin administrative regions of the Atlantic and Coast.
The project aims to develop an inclusive pedagogical approach in 20 primary schools (in urban, peri-urban and rural environments). To this end, Handicap International first identifies children in disabling situations, then our teams ensure that these children receive satisfactory care management. We then make sure that they are supported through the choices that need to be made about their education and that the teachers, and all of the staff in these educational structures, are able to include them (training on the importance of including children in disabling situations in classes, and on adapted teaching methods where necessary). Finally, Handicap International carries out construction work to adapt the buildings at some schools (to make them accessible).
