Morbidity Management and Disability Prevention (MMDP)

This project focuses on morbidity management and disability prevention for lymphatic filariasis (LF) and trachoma and works with Ministries of Health and other stakeholders to build capacity and begin the scale up to meet elimination targets. Key activities are: a) conducting situational analyses for the three conditions (trichiasis, hydrocele and lymphedema) including refining understanding of the backlogs; b) developing country-owned strategic plans that focus on increased quality and quantity of surgery and service provision; c) facilitating countries to reduce the case backlog through effective and efficient delivery of surgery and lymphedema management; and d) documenting best practices to disseminate globally so all endemic countries benefit.
